Hybrid payment platform Wirex, has officially added a Ripple wallet to their services. Users can now exchange and spend their XRP in stores and online with a Wirex Visa Card, making it the first platform that lets users spend their XRP like fiat.
Wirex introduces new Ripple wallet
With the addition of the new wallet, Wirex now supports XRP, Bitcoin and Litecoin. This means that users can seamlessly buy, sell, store and exchange all three coins, as well as use any of them to purchase goods in the outside world with a Wirex Visa card. The introduction of a Ripple wallet brings significantly more functionality to the Wirex platform and cements them as a top digital money platform.
Ripple has the third highest market cap of all cryptocurrencies, so it is understandable why there is so much buzz and excitement surrounding this announcement. Almost every cryptocurrency fan, investor, or enthusiast has heard of Ripple, and many have already invested in it. Wirex’s new wallet means that these people can finally exchange and use their earnings in the same way they would with fiat cash.
As the Wirex co-founder, Pavel Matveev, notes, “XRP has gained a reputation as a stable altcoin with a strong underlying offering.” It’s not all about stability, however. “While the value of most cryptocurrencies is influenced by the oscillations of Bitcoin, XRP is independent of the Bitcoin blockchain. It has grown considerably in value – with some significant gains in the last year. We are thrilled that we are able to offer this innovative new wallet on the Wirex platform, as there has been an increasing demand for the token“.
Wirex brings crypto to the masses
The Visa-supported Wirex payment card is the industry standard. Both veteran crypto enthusiasts and novices recommend their debit cards. This is because of the sheer versatility that Wirex payment cards offer. The cards are contactless, allowing users to pay in shops, restaurants, bars, and on public transport with a simple tap. Using the card earns cardholders 0.5% in BTC on in-store purchases, thanks to Cryptoback™ – Wirex’s ground-breaking rewards programme.
Cards are Chip & Pin enabled, which means that users convert their crypto and withdraw it at ATMs. This makes Wirex the most accessible crypto-to-fiat exchange on the market. The new update means that now Ripple fans can take full advantage of the services as Bitcoin and Litecoin devotees do.
Wirex payment cards are only available to users in the EEA. Other territories coming soon.
