Speaking shortly after the announcement, co-founder Pavel Matveev commented that “Ethereum is the second highest-value cryptocurrency after Bitcoin and its inclusion on our platform marks an important step for Wirex users.”
🎉 To celebrate the launch of the Wirex #ETH wallet, we’ve teamed up with @crypto_disrupt to donate 20ETH to a charity chosen by you, the #crypto community🤝

Wirex now facilitates a seamless exchange of Ethereum with other cryptocurrencies, while also allowing their users to buy, sell and spend fiat as well as cryptos via the Wirex Visa payment card.
Fellow co-founder Dmitry Lazarichev also commented that “Ethereum stands out from other cryptocurrencies because while it is a digital currency, it has an entirely different protocol to Bitcoin.
“Besides using Ether to transfer money, it allows you to execute smart contracts. These smart contracts will have the effect of eventually eliminating the middle man from contracts, resulting in savings for the consumer.”
Access to an innovative altcoin
Adding an Ethereum wallet provides Wirex customers with access to an innovative altcoin.
Launched in 2014 following a USD 18 million ICO, Ethereum is the brainchild of Russian-Canadian Vitalik Buterin, who was a young programmer and prolific writer on the subject of crypto and blockchain.
The Ethereum whitepaper was unveiled in late 2013 and proposed “a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts” that possessed the qualities of the Bitcoin blockchain, but which had broader capabilities.
Ethereum’s success is primarily built on the support of large corporates, many of who rank among the list of Fortune 500 companies.
Just like all other currencies supported by the Wirex platform, Ethereum can be bought and sold and looks to be a welcome addition to the Wirex suite of cryptos and fiat currencies.
Product growth does not stop here
Pavel Matveev continued –
“We are pleased that we can now offer this popular crypto, but our product growth does not stop here. We have some interesting new services in the pipeline, and our recently earned FCA e-money license has opened the doors for even more products and locations in the near future.”
While the news of Wirex adding an Ethereum wallet is exciting enough, we can also announce that Wirex has teamed up with us here at Crypto Disrupt to donate 20 ETH to a charitable cause chosen by the cryptocurrency community!
Crypto fans can nominate a charity of their choice until September 11, with the winning charity being chosen at random on September 14.
