The worlds largest investment focused crypto and blockchain event, Crypto Invest Summit, also known as CIS, announced today that Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will headline their event in Los Angeles in October.
This signals a return to the Los Angeles Convention Centre after a hugely successful sold-out event in 2017.
The primary building blocks of blockchain technology
Leading the effort to open up mainstream access to crypto and blockchain, CIS organizers believe that bringing someone as well known and highly regarded as Steve Wozniak to the blockchain event in LA will help them achieve their aim.
Wozniak has long been recognized as one of the early cryptocurrency and blockchain supporters, as well as a global activist for fairness, decentralization, and distribution, which are the primary building blocks of blockchain technology.
Commenting ahead of his keynote fireside chat, Wozniak said –
“I am very excited to speak about the potential for Bitcoin and blockchain at Crypto Invest Summit.
“I want to speak with the biggest players in the blockchain community, and challenge them to make innovative products that create utility – and then bring real value to their users.”
Alon Goren, co-founder of CIS and crypto fund veteran commented that “No one demonstrates innovation and distributing its rewards to those who helped build it more than the Woz.”
“That is the fundamental spirit behind why so many of us were drawn to the cryptocurrency community. To do it right, everyone is incentivized and rewarded for participation.”
A supporter of innovation
Wozniak is a prominent supporter of innovation and isn’t afraid to challenge tech giants on issues that he considers important.
He is, after all, the man who gave away USD 10 million worth of his own shares in Apple when fellow co-founder Steve Jobs didn’t want to relinquish any stock with early employees of the company.
Wozniak has questioned Elon Musk for too much hype and not enough delivery, and Uber/Lyft have been challenged on their pay rate for drivers.
CIS co-founder Josef Holm also commented that “We want Woz and the audience to debate and discuss blockchain technology and its applications.
“Our platform is for candid conversations, fostering relationships, and deal flow.
Ten people from the audience will get to ask Woz questions. The whole point is to learn things at the summit that cannot be easily searched for on google.”
Other speakers at the event
Other speakers who are scheduled to appear at the event include Tim Draper, Crystal Rose, Rodney Sampson, David Bleznak, David Weild, Adam Draper, Jeremy Gardner, Emily Bush, Ran Neu-Ner, Miko Matsumura, Tegan Kline, Alex Wearn, Steve McKie, Yossi Hasson and Scott Walker.
There has been over $1.3 billion in global venture deals for blockchain companies in the first five months of 2018 (excluding ICOs). Goren continued, “The summit brings this money to Los Angeles.”
The Crypto Invest Summit brings together venture capital, retail and angel investors, family offices, start-ups, entrepreneurs, exchanges and members of the media on October 22nd, with more information and press passes available on their website.
