America has a soap opera-esque relationship with the cryptocurrency investment industry, which we are seeing constantly play out in Congress and in the financial sector. A recent poll has suggested that one-quarter of American investors are interested in cryptocurrency, no matter how hard the authorities try to educate us otherwise.
Never does a few days go by without the US Congress trying to attack the cryptocurrency investment industry or another so-called ‘financial expert’ informing us on how to protect us from ourselves. It would seem the old adage of “there is no such thing as bad publicity’ is pushing Americans to know more about the crypto industry instead of pushing them in the opposite direction as intended.
New poll unearths interesting cryptocurrency investment trends
A new poll from Wells Fargo and Gallup has unearthed results that reveal that established investors in the US are starting to develop an interest in cryptocurrency investment, especially bitcoin, but are holding off at the moment.
Although the Gallup poll has said that bitcoin has made “little headway” to attract US investors, mainly due to the fluctuating market over the past 6 months, investors are still very interested and waiting for the right time to enter the game.
The Wells Fargo/Gallup Investor and Retirement Optimism Index Survey (say that after 10 beers), was initiated in May and included US investors who have more than USD 10k or more in stock or bond investments.
Other interesting poll results
Some other interesting results to come out of the poll suggest that out of the 96% of US investors who have heard of bitcoin, 72% had no interest in cryptocurrency investment whatsoever. 26% of the poll, which breaks down to over a quarter, are intrigued by bitcoin but still won’t be buying in the imminent future. 2% of the poll already owned bitcoin, while less than 0.5% revealed that they would probably buy bitcoin in the near future.
Although you can read into the poll results any way you would like, both positively and negatively, the fact that over one-quarter of American investors who took part in the poll are interested in cryptocurrency investment shows that the industry is making big waves in America. Although many of the investors who took part in the poll are still on the fence in regards to buying crypto in the near future, they are lying in wait for the perfect opportunity.
Many will say that it is impossible to take the 2% who have already invested in bitcoin as a representative figure for the entirety of the US market, it is better not to underestimate the fact that many of the millennial generation are choosing cryptocurrency investment before the more traditional route of stocks, shares, and bonds.
Whichever way you read the results of this poll, we have to take seriously that growing numbers of investors are not just now aware of the potential of cryptocurrency investment in the USA, but are waiting for the opportune moment to enter the game and make their mark on the industry.
