If Wall Street can inspire a myriad of movies, a cryptocurrency movie shouldn’t be a strange or wildly overreaching concept. If you are a fan of movies and crypto, two American film producers have been discussing a crypto-inspired movie that will star acting legend, Kurt Russell.
As crypto and art come together more and more, a cryptocurrency movie seems like the next logical thing that can merge the gap between the two.
Cryptocurrency movie in post-production
The new cryptocurrency movie is called “Crypto” and is currently in post-production. The movie is a crime-based thriller with a star-studded cast and promises to be something a little different. As many movies about the financial world have been massive sellers, such as the Martin Scorsese masterpiece, The Wolf of Wall Street, Crypto is set amidst the backdrop of shady cryptocurrency dealings.
The star-studded cast includes the world-famous actor, Kurt Russell (Escape from New York, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and many more), Beau Knapp from The Nice Guys and Alexis Bledel from The Handmaid’s Tale.
The news and culture website, Inverse, recently spoke to the producers of the film, Jordan Beckerman of Yale Productions and Jordan Tale Levine, who talked about their decision to make the thriller a cryptocurrency movie. Although the producers are not actually crypto aficionados, they are crypto fans and have tried to make the film as accurate as possible with its crypto dealings.
Yale Levine told Inverse that “Both of us have dabbled (with crypto). I don’t know if either of us would consider ourselves experts. It was really our writers who fleshed out the topic and dove into the research. They were the ones who really became experts to make sure the film was authentic.”
Crypto fans shouldn’t get too excited
One of the main things to come out of the interview is that although this cryptocurrency movie is based on the industry, it is more of a subject matter than the main focus of the film. The film might not be so satisfying for die-hard cryptocurrency fans and doesn’t even focus on a particular coin.
“It’s more broad than that,” says Beckerman. “It doesn’t particularly focus on any particular coin.” However, Beckerman does say that the cryptocurrency movie does involve corruption, crime and a smattering of crypto.
Although the two producers might not be crypto experts in their own words, they did have many positive things to say about the industry. Yale Levine told Inverse in regards to crypto that “We hope it lasts for a long time. That’s one of the reasons why we wanted to do the film. We’re not into fads. We hope it stays around for a long time.”
The cryptocurrency movie will not be released until sometime in 2019, even though it is currently in post-production, “the footage so far looks fantastic,” said Yale Levine.
Let’s hope that the launch of this cryptocurrency movie next year will bring more positive exposure to the industry, and no doubt that crypto fanatics across the world will be interested to see how it pans out.
