Adding a Custom Token on MyEtherWallet

Guides

With so many new tokens being released into the crypto community, it’s probably difficult for the MEW developers to keep their listings updated. As a result, you may find yourself unable to view new tokens in your wallet. This problem is easily rectified, and this short guide will show how to do just that.

Firstly, you’ll need to visit myetherwallet.com and select ‘view wallet info.’ From here you can access your wallet from one of the options listed below. If you don’t have a hardware wallet, you’ll need your keystore file or your private key and password at the ready.

Once you’ve successfully accessed your wallet, scroll down and on the right-hand side you’ll see a section that reads ‘token balances.’ Here you’ll find a gray click box with the option ‘add custom token.’ Click that.

You’ll now be asked for 3 pieces of information:

The name of the token.
The token distributor’s address.
The number of decimal places allowed by the token.

All this information should be available from the token distributor, and once saved you should be able to view the number of new tokens in your wallet. Simple!
